题目：Drug addiction and the abnormal brain

摘要：

Drug addiction is a chronically relapsing disorder, which has become a global problem in public health care. However, investigations on its brain mechanisms had been limited in humans until the recent development of neuroimaging techniques, especially magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). MRI facilitates noninvasive, in vivo studies of the human brain in both healthy and diseased volunteers, and has contributed significantly to our understanding of the effects of drug abuse and dependence on structural and functional changes in the brain. This report will summarize some recent findings from MRI studies on drug users in different directions, including abnormal gray matter volume, white matter tracts, baseline resting states and behaviors in cognitive tasks. Moreover, a new gene by disease interaction model will give us novel insights into the neural mechanism of drug addiction.
